We often cancel orders for various reasons. For example, customer requested it, the credit card was declined etc. IT would be nice when cancelling an order to be able to select from a couple of pre-canned messages.

Using a bit of javascript you could create yourself a list of pre-canned messages.
Here is what I picture... A drop down list box sits above the Administrator Comments box in the backend. It contains a list of phrases - could even be in sections - when you use the drop down you have a bit of javascript that says onChange put this message into the text area below. To give you an idea I have created an example using basic buttons... http://www.gbitsolutions.co.uk/pcart/buttextarea.htm Edited by GB IT Solutions - 28-October-2005 at 5:46am |

Hi Great tip the only dilema for those of us less web web design savvy is what happens when we mod the package and then an upgrade comes along ........ Far easier if its a feature thats added by the vendor. |

Yes, I agree. But who knows maybe the PC team will think about creating a new table in the DB that contains these canned expressions. They will then form the drop-down list. It is only by people requesting new features and others agreeing they are a good idea that things will get added. Things may even get added quicker if someone is willing to offer up code that they have already written in their custom backend. It would benefit them aswell, as when a new version comes out they don't have to hack the code again. |
