Hello,
Considering going with Product Cart but wanted to find out if you can also use it as an inquiry cart. This is where customers can add products to an Inquiry cart and submit them using the check out. Then we can contact them regarding their interest.
Thanks for any help

So is this rather like requesting a quote?
I suppose this could be accomplished by simply setting up a custom offline payment option, rather like Purchase Order. Just name it in a way that would make sense to the end user. That would all be "out of the box" with ProductCart. |

Sounds easy enough as long as we can remove the pricing from the items but keep the add to cart button. Can all of the cart language be customized (ex. Add to Cart, Check Out, Submit Order, etc?)

There is a file called languages.asp which contains most of the text that appears publicly. You can edit that file as you see fit.
The text that appears on the buttons would have to change in the same manner that you would edit any graphic.
Question: Will all products in this store be for quoting, or only selected products? Are there cases where one may request a quote or purchase the product as a result of some choice action? Could you expand upon this a bit so that we understand the context of what you are trying to accomplish?

Removing the pricing would require some customization, but I'm pretty sure that if you never want it to display, it could probably be all handled with CSS.
However, yeah, as Greg requests, it would be nice to have a fuller understanding of exactly what you're looking to accomplish here. |

Thanks for the replies. All of our products can be fully customized so the pricing is not displayed for any of the items on this particular site. On our current site, clients can go online and add items to an "inquiry cart". Then they can "submit the cart" for quotation. So we would not show any pricing at all. This is what we are after.
I should note that we would be using the apparel add-on for clothing.

Suggest you use EI's demo store. Create a testing category for yourself, introduce a few products with 0 price. Create a custom payment method, as Sean indicated, called "give me a quote". Store settings should be set to allow checkout even if no shipping can be calculated. Once that is done, view your sample products in the store and you should be able to push them through checkout as you seem to require.

Thanks for your help! Just a couple more questions if I may: - Can you easily disable the shipping module?
- Can you add custom fields during check out (ex. Preferred method of contact, Requested Delivery Date)?

Yeah, that sounds like it should work for you, and then you should be able to handle not having the prices show anywhere through the process using CSS display:none;
You can access the demo stores from here: http://www.productcart.com/addon-apparel-demo.asp |

Yes to both.
Greg essentially answered the first question: you just wouldn't have a shipping method set up and then set the cart to allow orders to go through with no shipping calculated. |
