custom search fields

   I'm on version v4.1 BTO. I was trying to add a path to a new custom search field. It was called "InstallPath" and held something like this:
lib\Designer Collections\Some Name

But the moment I added it and saved, it "wiped out" every custom field for that product? I wasn't sure what was happening, so tried it on another product that had 6 custom fields already set. When I saved the new one, none of the 7 displayed. So 2 products were affected so far.

When I deleted the "InstallPath" custom field from the DB, all the affected products started displaying their 6 missing custom fields again. Is the \ throwing SQL into a tizzy?
