Hello everyone

I am implementing Early Impact for my legal folk music download service at http://www.wovenwheatwhispers.com

My current download manager is able to manage uncharged (free) promotional downloads.  I would like to continue this via the software.

I know I could do a discount to zero but this would still require the receipient to log in.

Has anyone produced a solution for this or is it due for inclusion in V3 coming around July?  It's a fairly standard item for the download world - otherwise I'll have to do a work around outside the store.

Thank you for your time.

cheers
Mark

I'm not sure I get it what you're trying to accomplish.  I have quite a bit of experience using ProductCart to provide ESD (Electronic Software Distribution), so, I'll help if I can.

...is the goal is to provide free downloads (through ProductCart) but not require people to log in?  If so, then why would you use ProductCart for this?  A web page would do that...

Hi

thanks for the info.   The object is to provide free downloads but only for valid promotional routes - radio stations, journalists, prominent reviewers etc of the music.  So the URL shielding and standard email that goes with the download is useful and we don't want everyone to be able to do a download.  This route would also track what has been sent etc.

I think I might be able to do it by setting them as a wholesale customer and then send them an order where the product is set to a zero price. It's useful just to auto generate the transmission of a download link for promotional situations.  Payloadz.com who I use for this at the moment support it and it's a very useful feature.

Further thoughts welcome, thanks for taking the time to reply.

cheers

Hi all,

this topic can now be closed.

I've now been able to sort promotional downloads via two complementary routes:

1.  Set-up wholesale customers and the wholesale price of all goods at zero.  Place order, process it and it works.

2.  Provide customer limited discount codes that reduce the price by 100%.

Thanks for the help of Early Impact in testing this.

cheers

Mark
