Nope the home page and everything will be changed.
Im currently emailing about six or so developers for quotes etc.
Just trying to get my self sorted.
 
Also looking at upgradeing from Access to SQL. the database is just over 17meg and im told thats to big for Access....?

Good point Dan, but it assumes he hired an actual PC developer for the work.  If he did, they probably would have understood the abilty to create a seperate folder.  The fact that option was not raised indicates that may not be the case.  Alex?

Hi Alex,
 
Another option...most PC developers will have test sites already setup and could integrate your design into the PC template on their test site. You could review the design on their test site and once approved, they could provide you with the header, footer, CSS files, images, etc. This way the developer doesn't have access to your site/server at all.
 
The only drawback here is their design wouldn't be using your categories and products in the navigation of their test store.

No, in the copy edit the "includes/productcartfolder.asp" so that the second copy of the code knows where to find itself.
 
BTW, I don't know if you plan to retain that cute home page of yours, but it's not going to help a lot on SEO.
 
One more thought.  If you have a "most important" keyword for the entire store, consider naming that new "productcart" folder after that word.  It can help with SEO since nothing in your domain name will be useful for identifying the context of your web site for search engine spiders.

Of course there is.  Just just upload a copy of the store to a seperate folder and build the template there. Hi I'm looking at getting a developer to take a photoshop store layout I have done and make it into a new site for me.

 

They will need live access to test everything.

Is there a way to run  a shadow of the store in a testing format.

Like have my normal shop still live and normal  but in say a /test directory have a limited copy of the store that they can work on that won't take orders etc but they can use to test the layout changes etc...

 

I don't really want to give them full rights or send over my database and everything so they can install it on their machines. Private information I don't want other to see etc.

 

Si yeah Im after a way to let a developer being able to test site layouts whilst not interfering with my live site - and being able to keep security and privacy...

 

Ideas and suggestions are greatly welcomed.
