thanks for the in-depth reply! really helpful.

the Blog link and the Compare Prices were just cool ideas.. and i know there's more to making it happen beyond productcart.

the product detail and (some of the) underlying included pages are being modified -- carefully, so i don't break anything.

product import tool isn't really necessary. just want to put basic info inside any number of custom fields.

let me give a simpler example to make sure i understand...



in the database:

brand:        SuperZoomy
name:        Frizzybee
category:     frisbee
cool word 1: unique
cool word 2: spazztastic
exclamation: egads
funny phrase: even your grandma can enjoy



in storefront @ product-level:

SUPERZOOMY
Frizzybee the frisbee!
It's unique.
It's spazztastic!
It will make you say "egads!"
For hours of entertainment that even your grandma can enjoy.

The short answer to your question about attributes is NO. That's not the purpose of those fields.  What you are asking for will require custom alterations of the product database table, and the product page.
 
Brand name and logo can be dealt with, assuming you have associated these in the product admin, by adding some scripting to grab the logo + name and display them.
 
If the mfgr URL is in the Brand table, you can retrieve that and display it as well.
 
Blog link will depend upon what blog you use, and how you categorize your posts.  Will there be a category per product that such posts will appear in?
 
Compare prices - you may have an idea there, and you wll need to alter the product detail and underlying included pages to display that and the other fields you mention.
 
And if you want to alter the product import tool to support these, that again is a fair effort.  I have altered that tool a number of times and it's far from simple.

hi all,

i want to add more attributes to my products, to be shown in viewPrd.asp. for example:

brand name
brand logo
...
manufacturer URL
blog link (takes user to Blog results page showing my posts about that product)
compare prices (maybe takes them to a Google Shopping results page)

etc



is this what the Attributes 1-5 fields are for? if so, is adding more attributes as simple as creating more columns... Attributes 6-20?

something tells me this won't be easy as adding a new column to a spreadsheet, uploading it, and calling that info into an .asp file..
