We built something like this a couple years ago for a company that sold boat covers and needed to allow customers to select a year and then see a drop down populated with makes and when the customer selected a make it auto-populated the models. When they selected a model it would then show products matching the Year, Make and Model. It used AJAX technology to auto-populate the drop downs without requiring the user to submit a selection and refresh the screen.
