I know this has been mentioned before here (http://www.earlyimpact.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=665&KW =additional+product+views) but I still have questions after throughly reading it and implimenting it. Since I'm new to PC, I'm setting up and loading all of my product images and I too am experiencing image quality issues with the Additional Images being resized from a larger image within PC.
Within the PC Control Panel -> Modify Product, you can specify three (3) Product Images; "Thumbnail Image", "General Image" and "Detail Image". You can then add two (2) Additional Product Views; "General Image" and "Deail View Image". When you go to the product details within the storefront you see the Product Images "General Image" with multiple Additional Product Views "General Image" images resized and located below the Product Images "General Image". With all of the confusion about how the Additional Product Views "General Image" is reduced to a smaller size (creating jagged images in the process) wouldn't it be better to ADD to the Additional Product Views a "Thumbnail Image" option which would be displayed beneath the Product Images "General Image" in the storefront, and when the users cursor pases over this owner specified additional "Thumbnail Image" the Product Images "General Image" would change to the Additional Product Views "General Image" (how it almost functions currently). and... when a user clicks on the new owner specified additional "Thumbnail Image" the viewPrdPopWindow.asp window would appear showing the owner specified additional "Thumbnail Image" images at the top, and the "Detail Image" centered in the window (which is what it basically does currently). Some notes...if the store owner didn't want to specify thumbnail images in the Additional Product Views, than the way it is scripted currently is sufficient. Just some thoughts of mine as I'm trying to locate where in the viewprdCode.asp file, or any other file to try and do this. It would make life soooo much easier for people who do generate small, medium and large images to be used throughout their stores, and would eliminate most all frustrations regarding lower quality, resized images. |

Attached is an image showing the issues I'm having. The image at the top is the Product Images "General Image". The image at the bottom left is what happens when the Product Images "General Image" is resized automatically by PC. The image at the bottom right is the Product Images "Thumbnail Image" that has been added as the Additional Product Views "General Image".
The problem now is that when the users cursor pases over the image on the right, the main image changes to the smaller thumbnail image when it really should change to a "General Image". It's pretty clear that having a dedicated Additional Product Views "Thumbnail Image" would solve any image quality issues. |
