Automatic Processing for Download Products

Is there a way to make PC automatically process certain products such as downloadable files?  We have .pdf files we're distributing for free, but have them through PC so that we can get customer information and encourage people to use our online store.

Problem is, we need to manually process everyone's online order and it's fine for purchasing products that we have to physically ship to people, but we don't need to do anything really for the "free downloads" that we're offering.

Is there a way to, either in the individual product records or in the categories to have, when a customer "orders" a free download, that PC will automatically process and send the e-mail with the download link to the customer when they complete the sales process?  It's inefficient to have to manually process all the free downloads like the regular sales orders.

	If the assumption is that your payment method cannot simply be changed over to set orders to "processed" status, and that some orders need be in "pending" status, then what you are asking for requires a small customization.

	Is this a simple customization or a long, involved, need-to-know-a-programming-language customization? If the former, I'm open to try. If the latter, then I'll look for another solution.
