Customer built lists from products

Hi all
an increasingly popular inclusion on many stores is the ability for customers/viewers to build themed lists from your products.   This is demonstrated well at Amazon where they call it 'Listmania'.  
A user can create 'my 10 best punk albums' or '20 books to live by' and so on shown either in a dedicated category, part of a customer review or linked to a product.   

This would really go down well with my customers (the 'recently viewed' new addition has proven a great success in the beta of 3.1 I'm on).
I would encourage this to be included in PC.   Has anyone done this through another route or add on?
