Disable Pop-up when Stay on Page feature is enable

I would like to have 
Enable "Stay on Page when Adding To Cart" Feature:  set to YES.
But I do not want the Pop-up enabled to pop up every time something is added to cart, as many customers complain about this as annoying and counterproductive to the feature.  
can someone tell me how to disable the pop-up, but have the stay on page feature enabled?
