Here is something I would like to see added to the drop shippers section. (Or perhaps a new section with similar features.) Scenario:
I get items and I sell them on a commission basis. This means I do not pay for it upfront, nor do I have it drop shipped since it is in my procession. The login area allows the owner of the product to check on sales only so he knows how much he gets. (He keeps the ownership of the products until sold.) So right now I can use the drop shipper option for this, since the owner knows not to ship. Perhaps a check box in the back end signalizing a "do no drop ship" option (under Order Notification Content). At the same time modify the drop shipper log in so that the owner cannot modify the "shipping from" information, and that is does not snow the "ship to store" or "ship to customer" screen. No need to enter the shipping information on his/her end either. I don't think the drop shipper should have the option to change his/her "ship from address" in the first place. Perhaps another check box in the back end locking the ship from information from editing by the drop shipper. Katharina Edited by katharina - 16-April-2008 at 11:01pm |

Just noticed that inventory items of a drop shipper will automatically marked as an extra package. Yet, you can set it up that items are send to the store first, under which circumstance all could be shipped in one box to the customer. Adding a check box "Do not ship as separate shipment" in the drop shipper setup could avoid it.

I think it's great to show Ship From. Yes, don't allow the drop-shipper to edit this info. Example, let them edit the street, city, state/province, zip, ISO country if the warehouse info changes. Maybe the custom email can be a PO drop ship? Most drop shippers ..the big ones are not setup to do this. You have to go into their system and create the order.
This can also be useful for Mutli-Warehouse? If earlyimpact uses a zipcode database lookup tool to find the nearest warehouse to the customer and ship from that location.
