Hi Everyone
I am hoping someone can help... I wanted to use the dynamic category navigation supplied on the Wiki as zip files. However they seem to be for the previous version and reference files that are no longer there. Is the any dynamic navigation code for the new versions of Product Cart or can someone point me in the direction for updating the code? I am not an asp coder but I can customise little bits of things. Hope you can help Sam |

Hi Sam,
I believe the dynamic category code will work OK for V4 - BUT, I don't think it includes support for the SEO links, if you have those enabled. |

Hi Sam,
I just checked the links on the WIKI and all three files exist - do you mean some references within those files? |

Hi HAMISH thanks for replying.
I have the files but when i include the inc_catsmenuA.asp file into my v3.5 Product cart install it does not seem to reference the correct pages for eg: it references viewCat_h.asp which does not seem to exhist anymore. Is the code on the Wiki not for ver. 2? Thanks Sam |

Hamish I have put in the dynamic code again and you can see the issues here if you have time to look...

Hi,
I looked into it and you are correct, te files it calls have not been part of ProductCart for a while now. This feature isn't widely used (as you can tell by the fact it has not been reported before). The easiest "work around" is to use the static generated menus instead. Is there any particular reason you want to use the dynamic menu instead? Most sites don't change categories around a lot, in which case it's preferable to use the static generated menu anyway as the load time for pages is reduced due to less waiting for the server. |

Hi Hamish the main reason I wanted to use it is because I have styled it before here atwww.bellemaison.com and had wanted to recreate a similar menu. The static menu seems to have a kind of blanket style applied to all the links and although i know genCatNavigation.asp seems to be where its getting made up I can't work out where I could apply various styles etc. Perhaps what I want to achieve is no longer possible?
Or if it is do you have any tips for achieving it? I just think the static menu is not so easy on the eye in that all the links are the same. Many thanks Sam |

Sam, is the main problem that the dynamic navigation for your v2 store is not compatible with the page names in a v4/v4 store? If that's the case, and you cannot tackle this, any of the developers lurking around here could make adjustments to the code for you. E-mail me directly if you need such help.

Hi Greg
The issue with the dynamic menu v2 is yes its not compatible (the store is ver3.5 I think). So I would like to make that compatible or be able to customise the static menu code to make it more menu like. There is no more budget for me to pay someone so any hints would be appreciated. Cheers Sam |

I try to be as helpful as possible here in the forum, and guide merchants to answers wherever possible. But what you are asking for is going to require examination of your current code, researching alternative scripts if necessary, and possibly CSS. That's beyond the scope of what I can offer as a forum post. Good luck.
