Entering Coupon Codes at Checkout

   It may have been discussed elsewhere in the forum, but i've not been able to find any reference to it so here goes:

When a customer is on the checkout page and enters a coupon code, the customer must remember to hit the Recalculate button in order for the discount to be applied.  If they forget, they will get no discount and will be left wondering why.  Is there a way so that if there is a coupon code in the coupon field, the code is retained and the discount is applied even if the customer just  hits continue, without actually using the Recalculate button?
