Greetings!
Is there some method for showing the category navigation expanded? Thanks in advance. Edited by mrjasonsweet - 09-July-2008 at 7:40am |

Not without code modifications. On www.home-distilling.com we wanted that one "essences" category that has subcategories to always be open, so we forced that to occur. I know we removed a reference such as onclick="javascript:UpDown(139);", along with changing style="display:none" to style="display:block", but there may have been additional changes. I don't recall at the moment the precise details beyond this.

If anyone knows how to do this I would love to know. I want first level categories to show under the Parent categories.
I think in most situations people set their stores up with a general category structure to quickly drill customers to their interest such as Electrical, and Plumbing. If you sold only electrical and plumbing then all you would see in the collapsed navigation is two categories. Kind of bland and slower for the customer.
I'll post a request in the suggestion forum.

Hi,
Do you mean display in the same way that Greg has done on www.home-distilling.com but for ALL the first level categories? |

I guess the big question really is - do you mean the menu you can generate from the admin pages! Of course you are not tied in to using that and can design any menu you like.
If you mean to change the generated menu there are two choices - generate and then manually edit it, or change the code that generates it. The latter choice means any updated menu would retain the changes. |

Yes, i would like to modify the code to generate the results.
I normally make my own navigations, but as I build more sites I am finding simple is better especially for my clients using PC. This quasi dynamic category generator is simple, and it doesn't chain you to one GUI style.
More control would be better. I posted my suggestions here. http://www.earlyimpact.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2215
