Anyone have any ideas on adding product to the gift registry from the viewPrd.asp page? It is very unintuitive to have to add the product to the shopping cart and then add it to the registry. I can get it to work fine except for products that are apparel products. The apparel product will only post the main product not the specified sub product.
My really ghetto working workaround for adding to the registry page that is NOT an apparel sub product goes like this. (make backups before proceeding) 1. From the pc folder duplicate the instPrd.asp and rename it to instPrd2.asp 2. In instPrd2.asp find the line response.redirect "viewCart.asp" replace it with response.redirect "viewcart2.asp" 3. From the pc folder duplicate viewCart.asp and rename it to viewCart2.asp 4. In viewCart2.asp find the line <% call closedb() %> and right before it add a redirect <%response.redirect "ggg_addtoGR.asp"%> 5. Upload both instPrd2.asp and viewCart2.asp 5. You then need an add to registry button on the product page. Open the file viewPrdCode.asp. I added it around the add to cart button, you can find the add to cart button by searching for the line <input alt="Add" src="<%=pcv_tmpNewPath%><%=rslayout("addtocart")%>" type="image" name="add" border="0" id="submit" />. Add this code where you would like your add to registry button: <a href="instPrd2.asp?idproduct=<%=pIdProduct%>&?apparel=1"><img src="<%=RSlayout("AddToRegistry")%>" border="0" %></a> 6. Upload the new viewPrdCode.asp page. This will essentially add the product to the cart and then re-direct to add it to a registry. You of course need to be logged in as a user to do this. You can see it in action here bbraithwaite.com. I hope this helps somebody. If somebody in return can help me with this same process except with the use of apparel sub products that would be awesome. Even if you have some hypotheticals please post your ideas.. |

The wiki has a good starting point for this on how to add to the cart from anywhere.
http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/how_to/add_to_cart?s[]=add&s[]=cart&s[]=anywhere At the bottom of this page there is Adding an Apparel Sub-Product to the cart, This works fine as a link. Does anyone know what fields are used to pass the sub-product info using a form? |
