Currently... Our Order ID is as follows...
2204, 2203, 2202, etc.... the most recent order is Order Id 2204... we need to reset this and have the order starting at 5000...
how do we do that?
Again this is a great place to seek help! :)

Hi Dominic,
See the warning in the WIKI about the consequences of doing this and the impact on prior orders. http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/productcart/settings-ordering#order_and_customer_numbers That said, if you and your customer still wish to apply the change then it can be done via Settings > Store Settings > Order & Customer Settings. |

I read the warning... but it appears it is more of a external customer service thing.... it wont hurt the system correct?
For example... the orders will go like this... order 2000, 2001, 2002, 5000, 5001 etc..
SO if i change it to 5000 - it simple has a gap from the cart point of view...? it doesnt change the previous order numbers or hurt anything else? correct? thanks again Hamish you are great

Hi,
It DOES change all the previous order numbers as displayed in the admin pages, so if a customer calls about order 2002, placed when the offset was set to 2000 then, once the offset has been changed to 5000, it will be displayed as 5002 in the admin pages. Potentially a problem, but it depends on how many orders there have been and how many people dealing with orders. If there only a few then it's just a matter of making SURE the admin staff are aware of the change and the impact of it on order numbers. |
