We moved our ProductCart store to a new server earlier this week. Today is the first time I've needed to do category maintenance on an item after the move. The cat_popup.asp windows loads fine, with the URL referencing the idProduct and intTotCat. When I select the option to add/remove product from any category and click Continue, instead of getting the list of catagories, I get a simple message "error in cat_popup.asp". I get the same thing when selecting the option to review current categories.

Nothing is showing up in the Error Information log under the Help menu.

Any ideas what I should look for?

Hi,
See this guide to displaying the detailed error message : http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/how_to/show_raw_errors
The commonest cause of problems following a move is a corrupt or missing file.

I commented out the on error resume next in opendb.asp and adminv.asp.

Now I'm getting

500 - Internal server error.

There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

Any suggestions where to put response.write commands in the source file to narrow down where the error is triggering?

Change your browser settings Brian.  Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, uncheck "show friendly error messages"

I just verified that iIt is unchecked. Since I do .NET development for our in-house sites, I never turn on friendly errors on my system.

It must be IIS that is set up not to show detailed errors.

Turned off the custom 500 error page in IIS, now getting

The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred.

Guess I need to look at the Plesk control panels on the old and new servers and compare them setting-by-setting.

Now, people are getting a 500 error when trying to check out. We have had 9 orders successfully placed on the site today, but now when the checkout process tries to go to the payment gateway (gwusaepay.asp in our case) we're consistently getting the "500 - internal server error" message.

Brian:

- Restore the error trapping (on error resume next) that you had disabled
- Submit a support ticket

Clearly this new server that you are using does not have everything that you need to have in place. Once you submit your ticket, we can look at a couple of things to try to determine where the issue is.

Restoring error trapping fixed the payment gateway issue.

Still having an issue with category management, but I'll get a ticket going first thing Monday. I'm not available to go back-and-forth over the weekend, won't be able to grant FTP access during that time, etc.
