I have been running the previous version since v3 was announced but not yet available. So, we are not talking much time here. Should I consider upgrading? |

Hello, I genuinely believe upgrading is worth it. The extra features are excellent and we have found many benefits and enhancements can be realised. In addition to the AJAX aspects, things like the best sellers and crossing selling features make a tangible difference to our sales. cheers Mark |

Is there obvious stuff missing, like a real date/time of the order, ip address ? On minor thing with the 2.x, is the double authorizations via the gateway. I haven't figured how Ajax would help. Cross selling could be interesting. |

Date/time of order is there, I've just looked.
IP address can be tracked/locked or not. I haven't had a problem with double authorisations in v3. cheers Mark |

Any longtime users of vers. 2+ upgraded yet?
While there are a couple of additions that would be helpful particularly for us related to adding supplier and dropship information The ajax bubbles are a minus and I am concerned about the amount of work required to port our customized reports, invoices, custom feeds. |

We have upgraded several of our clients from 2.x to 3.x. It is some work backwriting customizations but we do a couple things to help minimize that: 1. In any module we customize, we put a comment above and below each customization which includes our company name and short note about the change. That way we can quickly find our changes. 2. We have a document that has a list of all modules that have been changed and an explanation of the changes. Then, when we perform an upgrade, we have those files backed up and we use a program (Beyond Compare http://www.scootersoftware.com/) to compare the old module against the new module and just copy changes from the old to the new. You have to determine how much backwriting you'll have to do based on the changes you've made and whether the new features outweigh that time for backwriting. In case you haven't seen it, there is a PDF file that explains all the steps involved in upgrading: http://www.earlyimpact.com/productcart/support/Upgrading_to_ ProductCart_v3.pdf All AJAX functionality can be turned off with one setting in the Control Panel. |
