Does anyone know how to customize the "open new window" to view a
larger product image to display properly in Safari (Mac)? The new window
always opens full size in Safari. I think it looks unprofessional and it's
confusing for the customer IMHO.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Shawn

If you are using PC v.3,  open viewPrdCode.asp and search for: "Sub pcs_ProductImage". The code in that routine checks for IE and Firefox to open the sized pop-up window. If it is Safari, it just does a regular a href with a target of blank which opens in a new window most likely at the size of your current browser window.

My guess is that this is because the sizeable window code does not work with Safari. I am not surprised since Safari has many Javascript issues. You could try this site (or others) for possible work arounds:

In our experience it isn't worth the time trying to get Safari to work right as it has many incompatibilities with code that works fine in other broswers. We usually recommend out clients to get Firefox for Mac as it works better than Safari.

Thank you, that is a good recommendation to use Firefox. However our web
stats typically show over 30% of our visitors use Safari. The main portion of
our website outside of ProductCart has popups for images and they open
fine in Safari (resized). Hopefully with the new version of ProductCart the
pop-up / resize thing won't be a problem? Thanks for your reply!

I agree that it is inappropriate to ask customers to switch browsers to use
our store, and many will just go on to the next site. I hope that Safari
becomes a priority since so many people (including me) use it as their main
browser.

We use code that automatically sizes the pop-up to the image. That code is unfortunately incompatible with Safari, as far as we know. If you know that there is code compatible with Safari that performs that task, definitely let us know.

Safari's share of the market is around 1.6% according to OneStat

Thanks for your reply! An example of a resized popup window can be found
here (go to the page and click on a thumbnail)
http://www.wystudios.com/graphicdesign.htm

It popup is a fixed window size containing a table and some cells... maybe
this could be a future option for ProductCart's popups? It would be great to
have a description or even an "Add to Cart" button right in the popup.

Thanks again Earlyimp for your reply.
