I have recently upgraded a store to v4.1
When the customer geneartes the XML sitemap it creates a file called sitemapindex.xml with links to several other sitemaps - sitemap1.xml; sitemap2.xml;sitemap3.xml
Perhaps its has always been there and I've never noticed it before but all the other sitemaps I have checked create a file called sitemap.xml
This has implications because in google websmaster tools the file reference is the original sitemap.xml so it won't find the new one.
Anyone got any views on this?

Hi Nigel,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. Yes, this is a feature that was introduced to properly handle large sitemaps, based on recommendations on how to do so provided by Google. There is indeed documentation on this in the ProductCart WIKI, but it might have been difficult to find.
