We are setting up custom shipping rates, but need to offer different pricing for different countries, not just domestic vs. international. Is there a work around/add-on anyone has come across?

I posted almost this exact question just a few days ago. I have not received an answer yet. I don't know how many "different" pricings you have, in my case it is simply International or Canada/Mexico. I was thinking perhaps we could just let the customer pick the correct shipping. Since it is a "custom shipping field" you can write anything in the drop down box. So what if the customer was given a choice like:
Packages shipping to Canada $10.00 Packages shipping to Germany $12.00 Packages shipping to China $15.00 Not ideal I know but that was a solution I thought might work without any rewriting of code. |

This is correct... the Custom Shipping Options do not currently support the scenario to show Custom Rates based on the Customer's 'Ship To' Country (based on dynamic validation). For that, you would need to enable one of the Real-time Shipping Providers such as UPS or FedEx, where the rates are specific for all the variables (addresses, package weight, service type, etc.).
Chris' suggestion is one that other merchants have used, but the downside is that it depends on the customer to select the correct rate (e.g. 'Country')... and there is no validation.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Having the manual selection was my backup plan, was hoping there was a more fool-proof/customer-proof way around it.
