Does anyone have experience running two Productcart stores off of one database?
If so, hard hard was it to set up and what problems did you run into? Chris |

Hello Chris, I was running two ProductCart stores (different urls, different templates) both connected to the same SQL db for several months. It wasn't really that difficult to setup, however, I have since decided to purchase a second license and run the stores on seperate databases to have better/complete control and seperation between the stores. I will confidently tell you this, unless you are on a very tight budget, just buy a second license and run seperate databases, in the end you will be glad you did as the benefits far outway the 2nd license cost! |

Although, if you want to have some products shown on BOTH websites, and you want to have the financial handled in one place, then both sites using a common database might be a good course of action.
Just my .02 cents. |

Yep, that is one of the "Pros" to this scenario, however, you are now a perfectly prime candidate for duplicate content penalties, so you definitely want to consider this! Identical product text being pulled from the same DB & displayed on multiple sites really catches your competitors attention (then Googles)!

How do you setup two Productcart stores to use one database?
I have two licenses but still want to connect one to the other. I have tried to put the dB info in the (storeconstants.asp) to connect to the other store but never worked. Thanks, |

I find this intriguing. I would love to do that as well. What would benefit me would be only having some of the products showing in the second store, yet the check out, invoice etc can have the same information for both. This would enable me to create a specialized store for only one product line, from the same database.
