Hi,
I need a little help explaining the proper method of handling orders of downloadable goods. For normal orders, new ones come in as status 'pending' (blue color). Once you check the order over and confirm it, it becomes yellow marked as 'processed'. And finally, when you fulfill the order it is marked as 'shipped', a nice green complete color that we know its done when seeing it in the list. With downloadable goods however, the item is sent electronically when you process the order, not when you "ship" it. Essentially, I have fulfilled the order after the first step of confirming it - That means that in the list, that order is done when it's marked as yellow as opposed to green. But we want all the complete orders as green so we know which ones are complete and which ones are not. To do that, we have to mark the order as shipped even though it's already done and I'm guessing that would send another e-mail to the customer saying item is shipped...when it's not a shippable item. Do I have that right? And is there a way to mark orders with downloadable goods complete (green)? It's a little confusing as the view & process screens are identical when handling electronic goods that are not actually shipped. thanks, -Rob |

Is this an error that it doesn't differentiate between downloadable goods and regular goods?
Anyone have a solution for the setting order to complete/shipped...since its an electronic good? |

Thanks for your feedback. We understand the issue, but it is something that has never come up before. We will keep it in mind for future versions. For now, here is one way to address it:
- Batch-ship those orders to quickly change the order status - Do NOT send the order shipped e-mail to the customer (uncheck those checkboxes) This way all orders will show as "shipped", and customers will not be confused by an "Order Shipped" message when they ordered downloadable goods. |

If this hasn't come up before, how do you guys and other stores/users deal with downloadable products mixed in with regular shippable products?

Can't you just use the "reset order status" button on the order "Process/Update" tab?

I am quite interested in this as well. In our case we will be processing the credit card at the time of purchase and immediately give the customer their download links. So we want a confirmation email to be sent immediately for downloadables. And that order is done! Received. Confirmed. Shipped. All in one operation.
Is this going to be a problem?
