Has anyone seen an approach where a customer can purchase an item, but instead of having it shipped, they select a "pick up at store" option? Any thoughts on how to accomplish? Thanks. |

I think you should be able to just create a custom shipping option with no charge. Have you tried that?

Hi Paul,
Greg is perfectly correct. We use it for a sandwich shop which delivers and also has pick-up's. If your offering that as an option you may, depending on the products / values etc, also wish to offer a C.O.D payment option. (Or should that be C.O.P )Edited by Hamish - 11-March-2008 at 5:05pm |

Yeah the only downside is that some of the American customers have been ordering with the pick-up from store option so it is causing us more work since we nowhave to edit their orders. Too bad product cart doesn't have a way to limit that shipping option to people in the same province or local area.

Hi Reg,
Put a big note on the delivery options page & perhaps a Canadian flag & a link to the store location next to the "Pick-up @ Store" option" ![]() |

In creating www.home-distilling.com/home.asp, our client was concerned that the dropdown that contains the shipping options. We created a fairly bright graphic and referenced it in the shipping instructions text that is accessible on the shipping settings page. You could do the same, as Hamish proposes. Create a nice image that is large and bright enough to not be missed that tells the customer their options. |

Those are actaully quite nice ideas. Thank you for the suggestions. I beleive we just pulled off that shipping option and only edit the few orders that wanted to pick up from the showroom.
Sometimes I guess it's better to keep it simple, and gas prices now a days make it cheaper to just ship it to our local customers! |

We did the same thing. Where we just created a shipping option for it. it would be cool however, to be able to force sales tax based on that option.
