Hello,
We are setting up our site to allow for keywork-rich URLs and are running into an issue getting the 404 error page to display. We are hosted with GoDaddy and have logged into the account and changed the 404 page to shop/pc/404.asp. We have created a static error.html page, uploaded it to the server and edited the 404b.asp page to pcStrSeoURLs404="/error.html" Within the ProductCart Control Panel we have entered /error.html for Page Name Not Found. The new URLs are working correctly but read in the documentation that if the 404 is not appearing duplicate content. Is there something we have missed or are doing wrong which would cause the 404 page not to be displayed? Thanks in advance |

the first place to look is to make sure the 404 is set as a URL and not a FILE PATH.
And if this is a v4 store, I don't think you need to be editing 404b.asp. We had to do that in v3 but not in the new integrated approach that EI implemented with v4.

Hi Greg,
Thank you for the reply. You are referring to the ProductCart Control Panel and not the GoDaddy 404 correct? So instead of entering /error.html it should be http://www.eeworkwear.com/shop/pc/error.html? |

I am referring to the GoDaddy setting where you affect how IIS treats the 404 page.
In IIS, custom error pages can be set as a URL or a FILE PATH. It must be set to the URL setting or IIS will not handle the 404 request correctly.
<snark>I warned you about GoDaddy</snark>
