We sell computer goods. Outline of problem. For one product we have multiple options. eg Hard Drive Brand> 100,120,160,320,400,500Gb. All with different prices and SKU's. (ATM, we basically display the product as a Category and the sub-products as products) If that makes sense :) Having the ability to have the main product and sub products would fix this issue, as PC doesn’t allow the same name to be used for options ( In different groups) We are moving from Cactushop to PC, and this is one area where Cactus handles sub-products better. Also, a better system in the backend where the Cat's are in a product. Having a tree menu is a lot better than just displaying each cat one after another.(When you have a lot of Cat's, it gets very confusing) Thanks Rob Edited by RobertZ - 07-June-2007 at 8:38pm |

Thanks for the suggestions. (1) ProductCart already has a way to manage Parent Products and Sub-Products. This functionality is provided by the Apparel Add-on (which can certainly be used outside of the "apparel" industry). (2) Good point about being able to browse categories in the Control Panel by using a category tree. We will definitely keep it in mind for the future. |

Hi Again In regards to the Apparel Add-on, does it export (data-feeds) the sub-products as individual products. Or just the main Parent Product? Thanks again

The Apparel Add-On will affix the sku number of the sub-product to the parrent product such as HDBX-SATA-100 where the HDBX is the parrent, and SATA or IDE Interface and 100, 200, 300 capacity are the sub products. This may or may not work for you, but if your accounting software is robust enough you should be able to create an alias part number and pull inventory via import/export.
You can also add pictures for the primary sub catagory.
