hello.

I am starting to create datafeeds for bing / google , etc.

I am wondering how "Not Active" or "not for sale' might impact feed.   This is found under the "other option" under Product page.

Thanks

If a product is not active... it will not show up in the feed. If it is not for sale... it will show up in the feed. If you are using the built in "generate file for Google base"... you have an option to not include the "not for sale" products. If you include it and a customer comes to your site...they will just be able to view the product but can't purchase.

If you are using custom data export to create your feeds then you can just export the "not active" and "not for sale" fields and then sort your list and delete products that are "not for sale" or "not active".

I use not for sale to show discontinued products, usually with a link to the replacement product. That way customers searching for an old discontinued product still find our store and they are notified that there is a suitable replacement available.
