I get a datafeed from a distributor that I manage in a FileMaker (FM)
database. I am able to export the data from FileMaker (via excel) to populate product cart. I have created the categories and subcategories in PC and in FM so that they match. This works fine for the first two category levels (see attached). In FM the CATEGORY NAME and PARENT CATEGORY are both identified. I am stuck on how to map the import for the third and fourth level. I would prefer that the 3rd level be BRAND (e.g. HP, Brother, etc.) and the 4th level be the Product Name. Suggestions woudl be greatly appreciated! If you have all of your categories and subcategories entered into Product Cart, then the import only needs the product's category and parent category. It will find the correct path back to the top level categories using that information. The only potential problem is if your 3rd and 4th level categories are duplicated under other 2nd level categories. In that case Product Cart won't know how to match up your categories. |

So, it sounds like, in my FM database, I will only need to enter the
CATEGORY and the PARENT for that CATEGORY and the import script will do the rest? I’ll give that a shot! Thanks so much for the input. |

Yes, the key is that all of your third level categories (the parent category in the imoprt file) are unique. If not then the import won't know how to link them products to the correct category.
