Hi ,
I am experiencing issues with my cart and SEO. Recent MOZ reports have been highlighting hundreds of duplicate page titles and duplicate content relating to products that are assigned to multiple categories within my online store. In my instance we can assign a product up to 6-8 different categories. How can this be resolved and stopped from occuring ongoing as it doesn't seem to be correct? Our product cart version is 3.5. This is what it is reporting is capturing http://www.my-domain-is-here.com/store/pc/EarringsPink-Sapphire-34p13226.htm http://www.my-domain-is-here.com/store/pc/EarringsPink-Sapphire-25p13226.htm http://www.my-domain-is-here.com/store/pc/EarringsPink-Sapphire-33p13226.htm http://www.my-domain-is-here.com/store/pc/EarringsPink-Sapphire-35p13226.htm http://www.my-domain-is-here.com/store/pc/EarringsPink-Sapphire-32p13226.htm http://www.my-domain-is-here.com/store/pc/EarringsPink-Sapphire-12p13226.htm http://www.my-domain-is-here.com/store/pc/Earrings-Pink-Sapphire-42p13226.htm Thanks

You need to upgrade. In later versions of ProductCart, the canonical URL reference was introduced to the SEO-friendly URL support. That should resolve this particular issue.

It was probably 4.1 where the canonical URL was introduced, but if you are going to upgrade, bite the bullet and go all the way to 4.7.
And yes, between 3.5 and 4.7, virtually every key file - certainly all of the product-related pages will be replaced. If your store is altered you will need to migrate the changes forward. If you need help, I have nice Aussie references to refer you to. |
