Edit Order Date

I need to be able to edit the order date.

e.g. in the case of an incomplete order that gets converted later, an old order creates some confusion.  We also use incomplete orders (as quotes) so need to edit the order date when to the date it becomes an order.

Can anyone help out with this? I did all the easy parts already as far as creating the Order date field as a text field on the orddetails.asp section, but having trouble getting the change to actually write to the SQL orders table orderdate field, also formatting the date to get written properly seems somewhat complex, as am looking at the target delivery date field and seeing the coding that's involved.
