Change a sub total and hold it

   Hello all,
Unique situation here. Problem statement: I have to be able to apply & retain the sub total in the cart all the way through to checkout and payment. 
My parameters are what make this a custom solution that I have to write. The client is on the radio (doing a show) and gets a wild bug in her brain to offer a xx% discount on all orders that include 2 of this product and 3 of that product. But in the next hour of the show she can form some other offers like: ''if you order 2 of these then you get 24% off, and if you add procduct x to your order you'll receive 50% off of that product. It just gets better from there. Needless to say setting up coupons and product discounts will not satisfy the requirements for this customization.
The company has operators that handle all the incoming call. These old ladies, all latin can't use a computer to save their life! But we're training them!  lol.  Any way we're using the phone operator mod by sawan and we're going to modify his page and insert an line item discount box for each row (a single product) in the product listings/ordering frame. When the ladies enter a discount (dollar amount) and change the amount of the sub-total, I need to save that value and insert it into the display of the checkout page and ordering page so that the corrected amounts are charged. 
How can I retain those amended dollar amounts please?!!
