I need to know if someone has been able to configure or has been able to create different headers and footers depending on the type of customer price level. I use one type of branding/domain for retail customers and another type of branding/domain for wholesalers and store, I sell the same product for both. Any ideas?

There are session variables that reflect the fact that a customer is logged in with credentials that entitle them to wholesale pricing, and to customer pricing classes. One could certainly use those to influence the header/footer and other elements once they were logged in. Note, however, that these variable only exsit after login so the wholesale guy will see retail colors upon arrival, and they will only change after logging in.

Thanks for the info Greg. I will start looking for a logon logistic solution as well as a domain name solution so that both type of customers would feel as they have not left their site. Then I will start working on what you suggested. If you know of someone that could help please give me their info so I could contact them. Thanks

Hi Rafael, The multiple domains from a single instance of ProductCart is a non-starter I'm afraid for both technical and licencing issues(see http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/productcart/licensing ).
On the technical side the key issues (to start with) are session variables, which could be lost when switching to a payment page & the interfaces with shipping and payment processing companies which can only be configured at their end to respond to a single URL. On the plus side displaying different content to different customers is fairly straight forward :- http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/how_to/show_different_content_customer_type#leveraging_customer_pricing_categories As well as using wholesale/retail or customer pricing categories there is nothing to prevent you using any other criteria you lke. |
