Can anyone tell me how they handle multiple products ordered with payment processor Authorize.net when only part of the products are available and the rest are back ordered? Is there any way to charge only the products that have shipped and save the rest for later processing?

Hamish...do you have any idea how to handle this?

Basically if a person orders two items and one is available and one is on back ordered  is there a way to only charge them for the item shipping or split the other item into a new order?

Same problem with PayPal Pay Flow.
Seems to me that FTC does not allow us to charge the credit card for goods we can't ship. We jump through hoops by only pre-authorizing the order, adjusting the totals to the actual total then processing the charge as a sale.
With debit cards this all too often causes a double charge on their card until the first charge falls off as never completed.
