We're having a problem with the UPS shipping charges. The UPS shipping option is overcharging our customers and we can't find any rhyme or reason to why it's overcharging. When we compare the shipping cost for UPS on our product cart storefront versus that actual cost for the ship weight we have assigned on the UPS website, it is overcharging our customers. The overcharge varies anywhere from about $1.00 to $12.00 or more. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you fix it?
Possibly, we're passing the wrong parameter because USPS wants ounces but maybe UPS wants pounds? So, for example if we have 5 ounces, MAYBE 5 pounds is going to UPS?
Any ideas?

I first used the UPS World Ship program to send packages and learned in there that UPS always uses pounds. So if something is 1 ounce UPS still charges for 1 pound. If something is 24 ounces (1.5 pounds) UPS will charge for 2 pounds.
Using the UPS shipping in ProductCart has worked well for me, but most of my products are close to a pound anyway so I just set them all to 1 pound. It's always pretty accurate when I check it against World Ship. |
