Hi,

I am creating a custom option for International shipping and I used the "Flat rate based on order weight".  I filled in all the weight and pricing within the chart.  In other words, I set my range in the chart to be starting at 0 kg to 3 kg at a flat shipping rate,  then 4 to 6 kg at another shipping rate.  Increments of 3 kg per row so it is calculated up to 30 kg in the chart.  I did the chart up to 30kg because that is the most weight I can ship in 1 carton.  I also set the "Maximum Weight per Package" to 30 in the Shipping settings page.

Question:
When I did a test purchase and added products to my cart that weighed over 30 kg I was expecting the shipping amount to have an additional shipping charge for the extra weight above 30kg because I set the "Maximum Weight per Package" to 30 in the Shipping settings page.  Instead, during the checkout it removed that custom shipping option  from the shipping options completely.  Am I using this correctly?  How do I set the maximum weight per package to work for this custom shipping option?

John

There's a setting to allow multiple packages (ie split the order). Otherwise, I think you need to keep adding to the table of weights for consignments over 30kg. Guess it depends on your shipping provider how you do this but usually lower weight packages are more expensive pro-rata.
