Hide SKU on products displayed horizontally

   I'm wondering what the best way to hide product SKU details on products listed horizontally since the setting in 4.0 only applies to products in a list?

I know there is the global change option but the customer who I designed the site for keeps forgetting to set it each time a new product is entered so some products show SKU and some do.
