Hello:
Here is my situation...I have a store set up with 3 categories. I need quantity discounts that span across Category One and Category Two. No discounts will apply to category 3. I can set up a quantity discount for both Categories 1 and 2, however i would like to have the ability to purchase from both Categories 1 AND 2 to quality for the discount. By default, the quantity discounts only work if you buy products from the same category. I would like to apply this over 2 categories. And then I attempted to set the store up like this 1. Quantity Discounts a.)Category 1 i.) Products b.)Category 2 i.) Products 2. No Quantity Discounts a.) Category 3 i.) Products Using this setup, The only way I can assign discounts to both Quantity and No Quantity Discount Categories is if the products are listed under this category, however I need to keep the products under their "subcategories" because if I broke the products from under their "subcats" I would have no way of seperating "Category 1" and "Category 2" Products. Any ideas? Let me know if I am not clear. Thanks!! Edited by theqc - 18-August-2009 at 3:30pm |

How about adding your Category 1 and Category 2 items to a further 'hidden' category (Category 4) and then setting up the quantity discounts on that Category instead?

Hi Gavin,
That looks like a very good suggestion, certainly worth testing! |

I have used it successfully on a clothing site that has a number of multibuy offers such as 2 polo shirts for £10. As the offer applies to Mens and Ladies, I can have the items in their correct categories and by adding them to my 'secret' multibuy category I can discount them across the full store.

This really saved me time! Thanks! This is something I would have ended up just giving up and hard coding! This saved me TONS of wasted time! Here's another question. My discount chart is now removed from the Product Details (ViewPrd) page since I have applied a category level discount and not a product level . Any ideas how I can get it back without doing some major surgery?
