Hi,

Is there anyway to customize the default answers for Special Customer Fields?  We'd like to change or eliminate the answers we get when a customer chooses not to complete those fields on checkout to eliminate confusion.

Thanks!

I've added 4 input fields to the checkout area, and when they're not completed the order notification email has a default answers of "123" for one, which is for CVC # and is required. The other has a default answer of "DDS", which must've come from us somehow since the field description is "If yes, designation", field label "(example, DDS, DMD, RDH, etc.)".  There's nothing entered for either fields "field value".

Thanks!

Hi,
You need to REMOVE the CVC # ASAP  (and clear down the CVC data collected to date) as you are not allowed to gather & store that information by the Credit Card companies.
See http://www.earlyimpact.com/productcart/payment_gateways_ccreq.asp#req

The implications for you if, for some reason your DB gets hacked or that information is otherwise leaked, could be financially disastrous in terms of liability and the Credit Card companies take a very dim view of it indeed. That is why there is no built in functionality in ProductCart to capture the CVC (aka CVV CVV2 etc).

(Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings)
A real time gateway is the way to go if you need the CVC info as they have the processes/permissions in place to handle them in accordance with the Credit Card company rules.

Is this custom code as there are only 3 additional customer fields supported and they appear in the customer record and not within the orders etc?

I concur with Hamish's assertions.  Check your agreement with the credit card institutions - if you are caught storing the CVV and have a security breach you are toast.  The financial ramifications will be dire.
