I have the shipping options setup for our store at the moment but there are certain areas in the UK that we will want to enforce a surcharge on the basis of post code or the first 2 letters of the post code.
e.g. If post code begins with TQ then the delivery charge should attract a 50% surcharge. Can anyone suggest something to help me on the way. I have some ideas but before I start to evaluate them I was just wondering if anyone else deals with this or similar. regards |

Well for taxes I do beleive you can do taxes by Zip Code.
Under Settings go to Manage Taxes, Then Under Tax by location click add new, and then you can choose to add any amount of tax by zip code, country or province |

not sure that applying taxes is the right direction as we already apply VAT on all purchases.

On another tack, whow would I code the shipping selection page to choose a second shipping method.
I have the code in place to detect whether a customers postcode is in the surcharge areas. So what I was thinking was a different shipping rate for these customers and priced accordingly. But my dilema is being able to automatically select the correct shipping method on the shipping choice page, and perhaps even hiding the "default"/cheaper method shown to all others. Does anyone have any thoughts on this. |

Hi,
Managed to work this one out by playing with the chooseshipment page. If anyone is interested, you can create a separate shipping method with surcharge added to it. Then when the the choice of shipments is being displayed you parse for the surcharge shipment type and then only display that one to the subset of customers that are attracting the surcharge. |
