i am new to using product cart and we have a situation where our client has "shops" around the country with a login and password system already in place. the product cart login feature uses only an email address. this will not work in our situation because at every shop there are many different buyers. we would like to be able to use the system that they already have in place so they do not have to change anything. has anyone else had this problem? how hard is it to customize this feature so that the email address can be replaced with the customers custom user name and password? Any help is greatly appreciated. thank you.

Hello,
Wouldn't you still need the email field retained to send receipts, shipping confirmations, etc to each individual buyer?

It would require custom coding.
The email address is being used as the user name for login. If you want to use a different user name you would need to create a user name field in the database then change the login code to either read the new user name or have somne extra code that refers the user name field to the email field.
Either way you would have to add all your existing user names to the database.
It is possible but as a compromise you could ask them to use their email addressa and existing password - you would have to add their exisiting password to productcarts database.
