We are building a website and are in need of shopping cart software.  It would be nice if the software had these features:

Use of Vendor codes
The ability to download manufacturer price lists/part #'s  in various formats (.csv, spreadsheets, ect.) and use them to reference our cost.  As opposed to inputting each part # and cost individually
Track different product costs from different vendors

Does anyone have the ability to modify this software to do what we need?
Do you have an idea what it would cost to do so?

If not, any suggestions on what software to use?

Am I searching for a needle in a haystack, or are these types of modifications/questions common?

Hi,

ProductCart supports the use of SKU's and has the ability to have additional search fields assigned, one of which could the the vendor code, if you don't use them as SKU's. You can also use "Brands" to separate the various manufacturers.

When you say "download" the manufacturers price lists etc - do you mean Import them to the website?  ProductCart can import Excel or CSV files of products. The data has to be in a format to suitable for ProductCart, but Excel files are pretty easy to manipulate to get the data suitably set up.

Included in the fields supported is a cost price. However, don't forget, product costs vary and so really tracking costs over time is the role of a stock control system. If your happy to just have a single cost for each item that's fine.

We don't have the ability to use SKU's in our industry.
The vendor code is the manufacturer. Typically 3 digits, followed by a dash or . and the part #. For example:

MR Gasket part # 1607

could be:  MRG.1607

This is how we differentiate between two parts by different manufacturers that have the same part #'s.

Yes, we are looking for a stock control system, (inventory control system), also known as a Point of Sale Program.

Essentially, we are trying to buy one program to use as a point of sale in the store and online.  Kill two birds with one stone, minimize costs, and seamlessly intigrate the software.
