I have two questions on the Importing Products wiki (http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/productcart/products_import):

1. What in the world is the "Short category description" for? It says that it "provides information on the subcategories that the category might contain", but why is that on a products table? Shouldn't that be in the categories table? Or is it expected that the subcategories that each category might contain would vary from individual product to product??

2. Similar question on the "long category description" -- is it expected that I repeat the information for each applicable category for each product? If so, why all the repetition?

Hi Charlie V,
There is no need to repeat the category Info, it's only required when a product is being imported to a new category (e.g. the first occurrence of that category in the import - if it doesn't already exist).

Personally I prefer to generate the category structure before importing the products, but this gives you the flexibility/capability to do it in one pass, as long as you stay within the depth limitation. http://wiki.earlyimpact.com/productcart/products_import#import_file_and_category_tree

I also thin out the fields to only those that I am adding/updating, taking note of those that are required - see "Field Requirements".
