Importing Links to PDF Files with Items

Hi,

We are looking to have PDF files for each Parent SKU that will provide the user with Technical Drawings and Installation Instructions. Does anyone know if we can import the links to these files along with the SKU information or does it need to be added to the Description of each item, as Support suggested?

I would consider adding a "custom field" via the admin, and if necessary amend the product detail page in order to display it where you see fit.

Thank you. Would I then by able to import some text and a hyperlink in this "custom field" column of the import sheet?

This isn't going to perfectly simple, but yes, you should be able to do the import.

Greg,

This actually works perfect. I was able to use Text with a hyperlink in the Custom Search Field. The only issue now is that when doing a search, it finds anything that is text in the Custom Search Field, which seems a little odd for my usage.

For example, I am setting the first Custom Search Field to Specification Sheet with a hyperlink. If searching for "Specification" or "Sheet", it brings up the SKU. This could be an issue when most or all items have a Specification Sheet attached to the SKU info.

I guess I could also create the hyperlink in Excel and then CONCATENATE it into the product description. Right?

I'd probably dig into the code and exclude this field from the search, making a commitment that this field was used exclusively for the PDF link.
