Option Groups question

   Hi,
I'm using option groups and have a question about how to get option part numbers to show on the packing/pick slip...

My options actually have a raw material part number, so when the customer is purchasing a product and selects an available size for an option,  the actual size they select shows in the packing slip but not the raw/material part number for that option.   

For example If I sell a product that has an option size steel ball.  The packing slip list the sku and "Optional Ball Size: 8mm" but not the options part number.  I need to be able to pull the 8mm size ball from a specific raw material bin location.

Would "custom fields" work for this?  Or is there a field I can create for each sku that list the component numbers for the finished good part?  I just need them to show on the packing list, the customer does not have to see the information.
