I need to do some heavy customization to ProductCart, and I am new to VBScript – ASP development. I have done extensive development in PHP using Zend development environment and I like the integrated debugger and project editor. |

Hi Karisa,
Just thought I'd try and revive interest in this thread by posting a quick reply - I'm curious about it as well. Personally I use GVIM - which is a powerful text editor with a strong Unix history. It's very unusual for use on windows but great, for me anyway as I worked with UNIX and VIM quite a bit in the past. It's about as far from an IDE as you can get though, apart from it's ability to color the code. |

Try any of the following: Microsoft FrontPage, Adobe DreamWeaver, MS InterDev, MS Visual Studio. For a lower end editor try Ace HTML (http://software.visicommedia.com/en/products/acehtml/) |

I would not suggest the use of MS FrontPage. It is a dead product with no future releases or support from Microsoft. It was end of lifed 2 years ago, the server extensions have not been updated in 6 years, and it can break ProductCart if used on certain files.

I'd like to find a tool that lets me step through / debug the ProductCart code. Our store (powered by ProductCart) is my company's only use of Microsoft tools/technologies, so I would be quite happy with a tool that can do "legacy" ASP and not much else.
My requirements are: 1) Must be able to debug ProductCart's ASP source code (step into, examine variables, etc.) 2) I'd buy a $500 tool with a simple (but effective) integrated debugger over a $1500 tool with all sorts of bells & whistles. I would also like to know what tools others are using (especially the folks at Early Impact). |

This looks like exactly what I need. Has anyone used it (or know anything about it)? |

Try Homesite. This was the best html editing software - and MacroMedia purchased it a few years ago. Good for raw coding, as FrontPage is a wysiwig which causes codes to be poluted and just pure mess up VB code. Anyway, Macromedia had taken it off the shelves a few years ago, but because hard coders still use it, they brought back a new version but I don't think it's supported. You can buy it online at Allaire or ... Macromedia. (search for Homesite 5.5 I think that's the version) It is simple to use and not as complex as the wyswig of Dream Weaver.
