We are considering purchasing Product Cart, however, before we do, we wanted to see if Product Cart can support the following scenario (forgive my simple description, I'm not an app developer):

In addition to selling products on our site, we want the ability to donate $1 of every product sold to a charity. Specifically the charity sponsors children. The ideas is to sponsor 1 child at a time until a certain goal is met. Then move on to the next child in the cue.

Does Product Cart have the ability to tie into this "non-product" child database?

Thank you!

Andy

Hi Any, you cannot do so "out of the box". The same is probably true with all other ecommerce systems out there. A nice thing about working with a shopping cart like ProductCart is that the source code is available to you and therefore can be customized.

Wait for replies to your posting here on this forum, or contact some http://www.earlyimpact.com/cpd - Certified ProductCart Developers for a quote (at Early Impact we strongly believe in focusing on the core software and letting other companies help customers with custom projects, so we will not be able to assist you directly on this modification).

Sounds like a straight forward modification. Add an extra table log sales to children as records based on an asp routine.

There are probalby other or better ways. But certainly can be done without much time. Contact developer for a quote.

Make sure to ask about forward compatability - which is always the bugaboo about customization.
