Hi There-

I am setting up ProductCart for one of my clients and this is my first foray into PC and ASP in general. I was hoping a developer out that has already found a solution for this problem we are running into.

We are trying to make it easier for people to signup for our newsletter, without having to doing a full registration or using the Mailup add-on.

Has anyone solved this problem or have any suggestions?

Thanks for all the help,
~Riika

Well, it may not be what you are thinking of but I have implemented the signup form for ContantContact a number of times.  That doesn't get the customer into ProductCart's database, if that's your goal, but CC might be a better solution for a mailing list anyhow.

Also have a look at Campaign Monitor which is more designer-friendly and has a different pricing structure.

Either signup is no more than an HTML form.

We really would like to get them in the PC database. Otherwise I can intall PHPList, but we are just trying to avoid duplicate lists.

Thanks!

Have you had success installing PHPlist on Windows?  I tried in the past, and really worked at it, but was not successful because the authors appeared to shun Windows intentionally.

I've not looked at the ramifications of creating a customer record with ONLY the data elements for a mailing list, such as name/password/e-mail/opt-in flag - but it would not be a terribly difficult script to build.  You may also want an unsubscribe feature built as well, or just tell them to simply log in to uncheck the opt-in flag.

I started to install PHPList in Windows and quickly decided that it wasnt worth the effort. My client has every TLD for her URL so we just sent one to my Linux box and will run the mailing list off of that if it comes to that.

So do you think you could easily make like an alternative signup page that just requires name/email/password and opt-in? I would be interested in talking with you about this if you think you could do it.

Thanks!
