I know this has been asked before, but I can't find it.

How do you get the newest products in a category to be listed first? It would be great if this could be set as the default.

Hi,
The quick answer is you can't (automatically) without some custom coding.

The storewide order is managed from :-
Settings > Display Settings > Display

For individual categories you can set a specific order for products via :-
Products > Manage Categories and selecting "Products" against the category of your choice. There is an "Order" field on the left.

If you have a lot of products/categories it will probably be worth looking at some custom coding to make this the default. Off the top of my head I'd say you will almost certainly find the correct order control code in the "New Arrivals" code, which could then be implemented in the viewcategories code. Don't forget though - any custom coding means you have to maintain the changes when you upgrade productcart.
