We have FedEx shipping enabled...but as customers go to checkout, an error message comes up:

"No shipping rates were returned for your order. The shipping provider's server may be unavailable at this time. Please try again in a few minutes. If the problem persists, please contact the store administrator."

I have the height, width and length specified...and turned on the FedEx services that we require...just don't understand why the rates are not being returned.

Anyone else ran into this issue?

Thanks.

I saw these...they are a joke.

We have had multiple customers complain about the error message...so it's not a zip code issue, nore is it a weight issue since it's every product and it's been happening for 2 weeks, so it is not temporary.

We just recently switched hosts, and are still trying to get up and running...could this be related to our move?

Thanks.

Hi, I guess these are issues that others have had, hence the FAQ. As you have a different issue and it's impacting business it's worth raising a support ticket with Early Impact. Have you done so?

They won't support us, since our cart was purchased through one of their resellers...and we've not have had a positive experience with the reseller, so we can't go there.

The people at EI are very nice, I would put in a ticket anyway.
On another note, have you checked your FedEx setup for your FedEx account number.  I think it will not return a rate unless that is done correctly.  Perhaps a typo in the account number?  I'm just guessing, but you did say that you have moved your site.

Hi leomis, here are some quick things to try. Changing hosts may impact ProductCart's ability to contact FedEx.  Check the control panel troubleshooting page and make sure you are using XML Parser v3.  In your shipping settings you may also select the option to allow checkout when no rates are returned.  That is a temporary solution and will allow you to take the orders.  Double check your store's shipping address is completely filled.  Ensure that you can obtain rates at the FedEx web site for the destination address.  Try checking all shipping options if you only have one or two active.

I don't see a place for an account number? where is that done? All is see is Shipping Options Summary ...then you Add the FedEx option...and you choose which specific FedEx service you want to offer. That's it.

ok found something new...

I tried removing and then adding the FedEx shipping again...and got an error...

"An error has occurred while activating your copy of ProductCart.

Please make sure that your "ProductCart/includes/" folder has "Modify" or "Delete" permissions."

Do I need to have my host give "Modify" permissions on the store/includes/ folder then try again?

Thanks.

I'm not using FedEx, because of their lousy service.  Plus it is run by contractors out here making it even worse.  Anyway, when I click on add FedEx it asks me for a FedEx account number.    I know it will not work without it.  Check in your shipping section and look for FedEx Settings and Preferences, not Services like Ground etc.

That could be my problem...i am never getting to that page because of my permissions problem on the server. Calling the host now.

well, the permissions fixed the other error but the FedEx rates are still not being returned.

Now when i removed the entire FedEx stuff, and added it again, it actually allowed me to finish adding it... as it say: "You have successfully configured FedEx."

I still don't see a place to enter any account info for FedEx. This is pretty much the only thing i can set for the settings...

Can anyone from EI share some light on this? Please?

This is a message that has been on our support page since 2006.
http://www.earlyimpact.com/productcart/support/#updates

This of course does not apply to v3, which supports a robust FedEx integration.

6.19.06 - FedEx rates not being returned.
If your store is using FedEx as one of the shipping providers, the store will no longer be able to retrieve shipping rates from the FedEx Web site. This is because it is no longer possible to obtain shipping rates via HTTP requests, which was the technique used by ProductCart v2.7x. The change on the FedEx Web site that has caused this is outside of our control. FedEx now only allows rates to be retrieved via their API.

So we can't use FedEx, we have to use other means to ship? Or can we upgrade our cart to use the API? Thanks.

Seems like it - but it was down to FedEx who made the changes. The upgrade process is painless, unless you made significant mods. In which case it's a matter of checking if the files you modified are included in the upgrade and, if necessary, re-applying your changes. It's usually a straight forward process if you use a good file comparison tool.

It's a big upgrade, but worse it.  EI charges for the big upgrades, so you have to buy it.  The upgrades in between are always free.  In any case you will love the new version.  It has so many new features.  I'm always telling people they are getting a store like the big ones at an affordable price.  The upgrade to 3 was coming out 2 years ago.  They are working on 3.5 now, which is supposed to be even better.  Can't wait.
